Cross-border E-commerce,Factor Flow and Industrial Structure Upgrading
The rise of cross-border e-commerce has promoted the high-quality development of international trade and forced the transformation and upgrading of domestic industrial structure.This paper examines the impact of cross-border e-commerce on the upgrading of industrial struc-ture and the mechanism of factor mobility based on the panel data of 276 cities in China from 2013 to 2021.The paper shows that cross-border e-commerce can promote industrial effective-ness enhancement and industrial dynamics change,and promote industrial structure upgrading;the mechanism behind this is that cross-border e-commerce indirectly promotes industrial struc-ture upgrading by facilitating the flow of factors of production,such as labor,capital,and tech-nology,and by realizing the accumulation of human capital,the transformation of the investment structure,and technological innovation.Further research shows that the role of cross-border e-commerce on industrial structure upgrading is non-linear,showing"N"type characteristics and regional differences.This paper provides empirical evidence for utilizing the advantages of cross-border e-commerce industry to help industrial structure upgrading and empower the new development paradigm.
