The Impact of Information Infrastructure Construction on Rural Revitalization—A Quasi-natural Experiment of"Broadband China"Pilot Policy
Based on panel data from 284 prefecture-level cities in China from 2008 to 2016,this paper uses the"Broadband China"as a quasi-natural experiment and uses a multi-period double-difference model to empirically study the impact of information infrastructure construction on rural revitalization and its inherent mechanisms. The results indicate that the construction of information infrastructure can significantly promote rural revitalization. The further research finds that information infrastructure could promote the level of rural revitalization by acting on the dig-ital economy;the higher the per capita disposable income in rural areas, the stronger the promo-tion effect of information infrastructure construction on rural revitalization;compared with the central and western regions, the construction of information infrastructure in the eastern region will significantly promote the development of rural revitalization.Based on this, this paper fur-ther proposes policy recommendations such as continuously optimizing construction of information infrastructure in accordance with local conditions, strengthening the deep integration of new technologies with agricultural and rural development, and implementing the new vocational farm-er cultivation project, which enriches the path options for information infrastructure construction to enhance the level of rural revitalization.
