The improvement of urban green development efficiency not only helps to improve the urban environment and improve the quality of life of residents,but also is an important way to promote economic development and regional balanced development.Based on the panel data of nine cities in Wuhan Metropolitan Area,this paper uses the unexpected output super efficiency SBM model to calculate the green development efficiency value and ML index from 2012 to 2023,and makes an empirical analysis of each city in Wuhan Metropolitan Area from static and dynamic aspects,and further uses Tobit regression model to explore its influencing factors.The results show that the green development efficiency of Wuhan metropolitan area generally presents a steady upward trend.Based on the change trend of the efficiency of each city,it can be divid-ed into four types of cities:"high efficiency and stable","low efficiency and stable","low ef-ficiency and growth"and"high efficiency and growth".The green development efficiency of Wuhan metropolitan area has a good growth trend,and technological progress is the main driving force of green development efficiency growth.The change of green development efficiency of each city is affected differently by efficiency improvement and technological progress.Prefecture-level cities are more affected by technological progress index,and county-level cities are more affect-ed by technological efficiency index.The economic level,industrial structure and environmental benefits of Wuhan metropolitan area are significantly positively correlated with green develop-ment efficiency,while the technical strength and environmental protection investment are signifi-cantly negatively correlated with green development efficiency.
