Study on the propagation pattern of respiratory contaminants under walking disturbance by a single queue of personnel
With the global pandemic of COVID-19,public health safety is a major concern. The virus is spreading faster and the risk of cross-infection is rising, because the Omicron continues to mutate. This study investigates the propagation pattern of respiratory contaminants under walking disturbance by a single queue of personnel. The experimental platform is consists of a scaled model of a single 6-person queue.Based on the SST k-ω turbulence model, the dynamic mesh and User Defined Function(UDF)are used to simulate personnel motion. The results show that respiratory contaminants are carried into the wake of the moving personnel, and the wake vortex caused by the motion of a single queue of personnel sheds periodically. The forward movement of downstream personnel destroys the wake formed by upstream moving personnel. Then the coupling of the two wakes flows increases the diffusion distance of respiratory pollutants.
