Based on the past montage experience, this paper proposes application methods and strategies for the design of home health products for the elderly with dementia,so as to increase their familiarity with the new products and overcome the problems of acceptability and usability.Firstly, the fragmented past experience of the elderly with dementia was tested by the interview method, and then the common points of the fragmented past experience and montage theory were further analyzed and studied by the literature research method. The combination of the two was extended to montage past experience. The montage experience of the elderly with dementia includes four types of fragments:internal fragment, association fragment, misidentification fragment, and repeated fragment, which respectively lead to internal continuous reconstruction, association accumulation reconstruction, misidentification intersectional reconstruction, and instinctive recurrence reconstruction.Based on the montage experience, four design strategies were proposed:the transfer of familiar fragments, the guidance of associated cues, multiple cross-recombination,and the repetition of a single element. These strategies were applied to the design practice of health record wearable products to better serve the elderly with dementia.
