Research on the Characteristics of Spatial Modularity in Rural Kitchens in Hefei
The rural kitchen is one of the most frequently used functional units in rural houses, and the characteristic changes in its functional space form contain features of history, culture, and living habits in different periods. The typical kitchen space constructed in Hefei between 1980 and 2010 was studied through interviews and investigations. It proposed to divide the kitchen space into five units combined with the modular theory:the outdoor module, preparation module, cooking module, dining module, and storage module, and quantitatively analyzed these modules. The flexibility of the outdoor and dining modules, the contemporaneity of the preparation module, the regionality of the cooking module, the diversity of the storage module, and other different characteristics were obtained through this study. And the current problems of each module in cases were summarized to put forward optimization strategies for house design based on the living behavior of local residents in order to provide reference for the design of rural kitchens.
