Aging-friendly Cabinet Furniture Design Based on Anticipatory Aging
The current trend of population aging in China is obvious, and the market prospect of age-friendly furniture is broad, which promotes the exploration of age-friendly features in furniture design. The study adopts the qualitative research method of questionnaires and non-participatory observation to analyze the behavioral characteristics and psychological needs of middle-aged and elderly people and summarize the list of functional needs. On this basis, the KANO model method was used to classify the functional needs of middle-aged and elderly people into different priority levels of essential, desired, and charismatic needs and to organize the needs with higher priority and those that have improved from middle age to old age. This was translated into age-friendly cabinet furniture design strategies, namely safety,convenience,labor-saving,interactivity,and modular presets. The study aims to address the lack of prescriptive features in traditional age-friendly furniture and provide guidance for design concepts to be implemented.
