Research on the Design of New Composite Floor Tiles Based on the Principle of Reduction
The principle of reduction is a design concept that improves efficiency and sustainability by reducing or simplifying complexity, redundancy, and waste.Starting from the perspective of the entire lifecycle of floor tile products, combined with the principle of reduction and the theoretical system of prefabricated decoration, this article proposes reduction design requirements covering three aspects:production process, decoration process, and waste recycling.A new type of composite floor tile based on extruded polystyrene foam board(XPS board)was developed.Comparative analysis with traditional floor tiles in terms of physical properties, laying methods and costs, and waste recycling and reuse. The results show that the new composite floor tiles can meet the requirements of prefabricated decoration and comply with the principle of reduction. The relevant achievements can provide reference and inspiration for the sustainable development of indoor decoration products.
