Research on the Design of Chu Table for Pre-Qin Chu State Lacquer Furniture
The Chu table in the lacquered furniture of the pre-Qin Chu state is characterized by its versatile design,exquisite lacquering craftsmanship,and vibrant colors,which are quite unique to the Chu region. During the Spring and Autumn Periods and the Warring States Period,with the prosperity of Chu's economy and culture and the rapid development of woodworking and painting skills,Chu exhibited a high level of design standards and unique design styles. This article is rooted in the physical examples of Chu tables unearthed from Chu tombs and discusses the design paradigm,functional design,decorative craftsmanship,and other aspects of Chu tables. It summarizes the design types,decorative features,decorative styles,and painting techniques of Chu tables and analyzes the cultural phenomena reflected in Chu tables's designs. The design art of Chu tables not only showcases the customs and traditions of Chu but also the cultural characteristics and spiritual connotations of Chu people under the influence of Chu culture,which is inclusive,passionate,mysterious,romantic,and full of shamanistic ideas.
