From Worshiping God to Emphasizing Reason:The Construction of the Standard System for Modern Tujia Dwelling Design
Since modern times, the construction of Tujia mountain dwellings has extensively incorporated Confucian cultural elements and advanced technologies while preserving the intrinsic value of localized lifestyles. This exemplifies a diverse and inclusive design philosophy that holds significant research significance. Drawing upon the three-level theory encompassing artifacts, behavior, and culture, this article conducts a comparative study on the evolution of key interior design elements such as door layout, shrine panel walls, and fire pond seating. It examines the trend towards standardization and systematization in Tujia living spaces, transitioning from deity worship to functional practicality while meticulously considering the logic behind interior-exterior interface design and the highly developed system. It not only preserves national identity but also enhances regional characteristics with substantial cross-domain integration value.
