Study on the Form and Application of Silk-Woven Wall Cloth in the Han Dynasty Based on Cultural Perspectives
This paper explores the morphological characteristics of Han Dynasty silk-woven wall coverings and their application in spatial settings.By consulting relevant literature, the morphological evolution of silk wall coverings in the Han Dynasty is analyzed. The forms of Han Dynasty silk wall coverings can be classified into curtain, mantle, and wall-hanging types, with significant influences from Han Dynasty aesthetic culture and the Taoist philosophy of"the virtual and the real are born together"on their color, patterns, and stylistic characteristics.Using image extraction methods, the study examines the application scenes, forms, and features of wall coverings depicted in Han Dynasty stone carvings.Silk wall coverings were widely used in public spaces, noble residences, and common households during the Han Dynasty, serving functions such as shielding views, dividing spaces, and adjusting ambiance. They also conveyed cultural values of majesty, honor, auspiciousness, and etiquette, reflecting the artistic characteristic of"brocade covering the hall"where"the house does not show the material, and the wall does not reveal its form."The design concepts, methods, and artistic ideas of Han Dynasty silk wall coverings have had a profound influence on modern interior decorative textiles, particularly in the development of curtains and wall coverings, providing valuable references for contemporary fabric design.
