Research on the Influencing Factors of Public Spaces in Composite Street Markets in Macao Based on Place Attachment Theory
In Macao, traditional markets are referred to as"street markets."However, with rapid economic growth and modernization, the expansion and renovation of traditional market spaces have gradually eroded the city's traditional lifestyle. This study selects five composite street markets in Macao as research subjects, employing semantic differential methods, factor analysis, and regression analysis to explore the factors influencing people's place attachment to public market spaces. The study identifies four categories of influential indicators—spatial attachment, functional, social interaction, and environmental elements—and pinpoints the key factors affecting place attachment in Macao's street markets.Based on these findings, management strategies for optimizing composite street market public spaces are proposed, offering scientific guidance for the construction of more humanistic market spaces, and aiding in their subsequent preservation, renewal, and revitalization.
