Transformation of Wooden Decoration Design for Ethnic Minority Residential Buildings in Northwest Yunnan from the Perspective of Symbolic Aesthetics
The complexity of the geographical environment and the migration and exchange among different ethnic groups in the multi-ethnic settlement of northwest Yunnan have shaped its unique architectural decoration culture.This study explores the design transformation methods of wooden decorative symbols for ethnic minority residences in northwest Yunnan from the perspective of symbolic aesthetics.Through field investigation and theoretical analysis,the study reveals the symbolic characteristics,including the aesthetic symbol creation reflecting ethnic continuity,the condensation of abstract aesthetic imagery,and the symbolic aesthetic shaping of ethnic individuality.Modern design transformation methods are summarized as emotional stimulation through form and meaning extension,situational shaping through synesthesia and empathy,and functional integration through associative mapping.By imparting new life to these symbols with profound cultural and aesthetic value through design transformation,the study aims to promote their contemporary inheritance and development.
