Objective To explore the risk factors and clinical characteristics of oral infection in patients undergoing oral and maxillofacial surgery. Methods 54 patients who underwent oral and maxillofacial surgery in our hospital from January 2020 to November 2020 (control group) and from December 2020 to October 2021 (observation group) were selected. The incidence of postoperative oral infection was compared between the two groups, and its characteristics and risk factors were analyzed. Results The total incidence of postoperative oral infection in the control group was 38.89%, higher than 5.56% in the observation group (P<0.05). Hospitalization time and basic diseases were the risk factors of secondary oral infection in patients undergoing oral and maxillofacial surgery (P<0.05; OR>1). Conclusion The resection of oral malignant tumor is more likely to lead to secondary oral infection in patients after surgery. Perioperative nursing intervention can effectively reduce the possibility of secondary infection.
