Objective To investigate the effect of total thyroidectomy in the surgical treatment of thyroid cancer. Methods: A total of 60 patients with thyroid cancer who received surgical treatment in our hospital from January 2020 to January 2021 were selected and equally divided according to the random number table.Thirty cases in the research group were treated with total thyroidectomy, while 30 cases in the control group were treated with subtotal thyroidectomy. The surgical effects, surgical treatment indicators and postoperative complications in the two groups were observed and compared. Results The effective rate of surgical treatment in the research group was 96.67%, which was higher than that in the control group (P < 0.05). The operation time, intraoperative bleeding volume, and hospital stay in the study group were (116.26±13.28)min, (185.58±24.49)ml, and (12.51 1.49) d, respectively, all of which were shorter and less than those in the control group (P < 0.05).The postoperative complication rate of the research group was 6.67%, which was lower than that of the control group.Besides, there was no disease recurrence in the patients of the research group, which was also lower than that of the control group (P < 0.05).Conclusion: Total thyroidectomy in the surgical treatment of thyroid cancer has better surgical effect, shorter operation time and less intraoperative bleeding. Moreover, the patients'' postoperative complications and recurrence rate of diseases are lower, which is worthy of promotion.
