Objective To study and analyze the clinical effect of combining Chinese and Western medicine in the treatment of osteoporotic thoracolumbar compression fractures in the elderly.Methods: A total of 200 elderly patients with osteoporotic thoracolumbar compression fractures admitted from June 2021 to May 2022 were selected for the study.These patients were randomly grouped and treated with combined Chinese and Western medicine and Western medicine alone during the treatment period, and the treatment effects of the two groups were compared.RESULTS: Compared with the control group, the patients in the study group had significantly better treatment efficiency, post-treatment pain score, Cobb''s angle, percentage of height of the anterior border of the injured spine, bone mineral density and quality of life score.The difference between the groups was significant (P<0.05).There was no significant difference in the incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups (P>0.05).CONCLUSION: The implementation of combined traditional Chinese and Western medicine treatment for elderly patients with osteoporotic thoracolumbar compression fractures is effective, which can effectively improve the clinical symptoms and enhance the quality of life of patients.
