The Comparative Study of Fluoride Varnish and Fluoride Foam against Caries of Deciduous Teeth
Objective:The aim of the research was to compare the preventive ef ects of fluoride varnish and fluoride foam on the caries of deciduous teeth.Methods:589 3-year-old children were randomG ly chosen and divided into fluoride varnish group,fluoride foam group and control group.Objects in fluoride groups received caries prevention operation twice in the first and seventh month respectively,and 553 objects received the oral examination in the thirteenth month.A double check system was applied in data col ecting and inputting.Statistical software SPSS 17.0 was used to analyze the data.The test reG sult P<0.05 refers to the statistical y significant dif erence of the data.Result:Compared with the data before,the dental caries rates and the dmft,as wel as the SiC indexes of the three groups were higher after the fluoride measure(P<0.001).After the fluoride measure,the dmft increases of the three groups had statistical y significant dif erence(P<0.001),and the dmft increase of the fluoride varnish group was less than those of the fluoride foam group and the control group(P=0.001,P=0.002).After the fluoride measure,the SiC indexes increases of the three groups had statistical y significant dif erence(P<0.001),and the SiC index increase of the fluoride varnish group was less than those of the fluoride foam group and the control group(P<0.05).After the experiment,the incidence rates of the three groups had statistical y significant dif erence(P=0.002).The control group had higher incidence rate than the fluoride varnish group and the fluoride foam group(P=0.015,P=0.001).Conclusion:Both fluG oride varnish and fluoride foam could prevent dental caries ef ectively.For people with high caries risk,fluoride vanish had a better preventing ef ect than fluoride foam.
