Power distribution equipment in the operation process, due to various reasons may lead to equipment overheating, resulting in equipment failure or fire and other safety accidents. Therefore,a monitoring method of abnormal temperature rise of power distribution equipment based on infrared thermal imaging technology is proposed in this paper. The monitoring images of distribution equipment are collected based on infrared thermal imaging technology, and the acquired images are pre-processed such as enhancement and de-noising.The target area of distribution equipment is extracted from the pre-processed infrared images and the temperature rise value is calculated. The overheating phenomenon of equipment is judged and located by the relative temperature difference method to realize the abnormal temperature rise monitoring of power distribution equipment. The experimental results show that the average deviation between the distribution equipment abnormal temperature rise monitored by this method and the actual data is 0.048 C,which has a high abnormal temperature rise monitoring accuracy.
