Geochemical characteristics and ore-forming environment of Shangqinggou quartz sandstone deposit in Baishan City
The Diaoyutai Formation of the Qingbaikou in the Upper Proterozoic is a high-purity quartz sandstone ore bearing lay-er.An ore body has been discovered here, with a silica grade of 90%or above, and is produced in thick layers. The resource reserves meet the standards of large mineral deposits. The ore has a gray white medium fine grain texture and blocky structure.Through the analysis of geochemical testing data such as semi-quantitative full analysis and multiple analysis of ore samples and interbedded quartz sandstone samples, the characteristics of the ore-forming source area, paleosalinity, redox degree, and ore-forming tectonic background were explored. It was shown that the Shangqinggou quartz sandstone deposit was formed by normal sedimentation and is a product of the original sedimentation of felsic rocks in Liaodong plate. It has undergone moderate weathe-ring and the sedimentary environment is a passive coastal environment on the continental margin. The quartz sandstone in the middle of the Diaoyutai Formation is an advantageous location for searching for quartz sandstone deposits. The research results can provide scientific references for similar mining areas and deep exploration.
