The Belt and Road Initiative and China's Position in the World Economic System
It has been more than a decade since the Belt and Road Initiative was proposed in 2013,bringing new impetus and development space to the economy of China and the countries and regions involved in the BRI and even the world.According to the"center-periphery-semi-periphery"classification of American scholar Wallerstein's"World System Theory",China was a peripheral country at the beginning of reform and opening-up.With the development of economy and the improvement of composite national strength,China has begun to transform from a peripheral country to a semi-peripheral and central country. The Belt and Road Initiative has made China's economy powerful in leading performance among peripheral and semi-peripheral countries, and it once appeared that China was in"quasi-central"position.Based on the BRI and practice, this paper analyzes the impact of the BRI on the world economic system and the evolution of China's position in the world economic system from the perspective of"World System Theory",and discusses the role of the Belt and Road Initiative in promoting the transformation of China's position in the world economic system.
