On Cultivating English Majors'Intercultural Communicative Competence under the Concept of Content and Language Integration
The development of intercultural communicative competence(ICC)should be one of the most im-portant objectives of educating English majors.With classroom observations and interviews as instruments for da-ta collection,a qualitative research design was employed.Analysis of the data collected generated the following findings.First,in terms of the analytic teaching strategies,teachers explained and extended linguistic and cultural knowledge,objectively introduced cultures from a wide range of perspectives,explained importance of ICC,ap-preciated cultural products with multimedia resources,and shared intercultural communicative experience.Sec-ond,in terms of the experiential teaching strategies,teachers simulated intercultural situations,organized critical-thinking activities,assigned impromptu tasks,and offered intercultural communicative opportunities.
