The copper reagent(sodium driethyldithiocarbamate trihydrate)used for detecting mer-cury chloride content in low mercury catalysts must be calibrated with a mercury standard solution.Mer-cury chloride was a highly toxic chemical.An improved method for calibrating copper reagents using io-dine standard solution instead of mercury standard solution was introduced.
