Research on Xu Song's Thoughts about Historiography Compilation from the Perspective of General History
Xu Song,a historian in the mid-Tang Dynasty,wrote the book Jiankang Shilu based on the history books of the previous dynasties.Through the study of the book,it can be found that Xu Song's thoughts about historiography compilation not only inherit the predeces-sors but also make certain innovations in connection with the context of his period.When ex-amining historical issues,Xu Song was influenced by a variety of factors and explored the rise and fall of the Six Dynasties with the idea of understanding changes through the past and the present.In terms of the compilation style rules of history books,Xu Song was influenced by both the orthodoxy view and the nationality view,showing differences from previous histori-ans—regarding that of the six dynasties as orthodoxy.In terms of the compilation way of histo-ry books,Xu Song followed Pei Songzhi and others,advocated extensive reading and learning,and cited a large number of ancient books.
