Acupuncture in combined with narrow band ultraviolet in treatment of alopecia areata
Objective To explore the clinical efficacy of acupuncture in combined with narrow band ultraviolet in the treatment of alopecia areata. Methods A total of 60 patients confirmed with alopecia areata who were admitted in our hospital from March,2012 to November,2013 were included in the study and randomized into the observation group and the control group with 30 cases in each group. The patients in the observation group were given acupuncture in combined with narrow band ultraviolet, while the patients in the control group were only given acupuncture. The symptom and sign scores, the improvement of PSQI,the serum VEGF,and the clinical efficacy before and after treat-ment in the two groups were compared. Results The symptom, sign, and PSQI scores after treatment in the two groups were significantly improved when compared with before treatment〔(129. 4 ± 30. 5)ng / L〕(P < 0. 05),and the im-proved degree in the observation group was significantly superior to that in the control group〔(107. 8 ± 28. 2)ng / L〕(P < 0. 05). The serum VEGF degree after treatment in the two groups was significantly increased when compared with before treatment(P < 0. 05),and the increased degree in the observation group was significantly superior to that in the control group(P <0. 05). The total effective rate in the observation group 100% was significantly higher than that in the control group 86. 7%(P <0. 05). Conclusion Acupuncture in combined with narrow band ultraviolet in the treatment of alopecia areata can effectively relieve the clinical symptoms and enhance the serum VEGF level.
