Through the investigation of ancient literature and the sorting of modern research achievements in traditional Chinese medicine,combined with the understanding and application experience of well-known experts and scholars in the clinical and pharmaceutical fields of traditional Chinese medicine,it is concluded that cape jasmine fruit mainly has the following characteristics:Its main effects involve clearing fire and removing annoyance,clearing heat and promoting diuresis,cooling blood and detoxifying,and relieving swelling and pain for external use.Its symptom targets include vexation and jaundice,while its biochemical indicator target is hyperglycaemia.Modern pharmacology has found that cape jasmine fruit and its active ingredients have the effects of anti-inflammation and antipyretics,protecting the liver and gallbladder,protecting nerves,lowering blood sugar,lowering blood lipid,and analgesics.It has hepatorenal toxicity,and gardenoside is the main hepatotoxic component,so its long-term high-dose administration should be avoided in clinical practice and attention should be paid to its reasonable compatibility with other medicines.Its clinical dosage range is 3-30g.When taken orally,it should be used according to different diseases or different stages of the same disease,and the dose-effect relationship between its dosage and symptom targets,biochemical indicator targets should be actively explored and reconstructed.
