Clinical study on the treatment of posterior circulation ischemic vertigo with the pattern of wind-phlegm disturbing upward using Xifeng Huatan Zhi Xuan Tang combined with suspension moxibustion
Objective To investigate the therapeutic effect of Xifeng Huatan Zhi Xuan Tang combined with suspension moxibustion on patients with posterior circulation ischemic vertigo with the pattern of wind-phlegm disturbing upward.Methods A total of 81 patients diagnosed with posterior circulation ischemic vertigo with the pattern of wind-phlegm disturbing upward and admitted to the Encephalopathy Department of Jiangyin Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital from May 2020 to May 2023 were selected as research subjects.They were randomly divided into three groups,with 27 patients in each group.The Chinese medicine group took Xifeng Huatan Zhi Xuan Tang,while the moxibustion group received the suspension moxibustion treatment,and the combination group received both.All the groups underwent a treatment cycle of 4 weeks.The clinical efficacy,vertigo symptom scores[Berg Balance Scale(BBS)and Dizziness Assessment Rating Scale(DARS)],cerebral blood flow velocity[vertebrobasilar artery(BA),left vertebral artery(LVA),and right vertebral artery(RVA)],and TCM symptom scores were compared among the groups.Results All the indicators improved post-treatment in the three groups.The overall effective rate was 92.60%(25/27)for the combination group,70.37%(19/27)for the Chinese medicine group,and 74.07%(20/27)for the moxibustion group,with the combination group significantly better than the other two groups(P<0.05).The BBS score of the combination group was significantly higher,while the DARS score was significantly lower than that of the other two groups(P<0.05).The BA,LVA,and RVA values in the combination group were also significantly higher(P<0.05),while the TCM symptom score was significantly lower(P<0.05).Conclusion The combination of Xifeng Huatan Zhi Xuan Tang and suspension moxibustion effectively enhances the treatment outcomes for patients with posterior circulation ischemic vertigo with pattern of wind-phlegm disturbing upward,significantly improving the posterior blood circulation and alleviating vertigo symptoms.
