This article presents a case of treating exogenous fever with Sanbiao Decoction as the basic prescription by Academician Tong Xiaolin,and explains his experience in using the"first high-dose"medication strategy to treat diseases according to syndromes.This method is mostly used to treat emergencies or acute and severe diseases,such as early acute exogenous diseases,in order that the drugs may take effect quickly.When using this strategy,close attention must be given to"symptom targets",which act as an indication for a timely dosage adjustment.If the medication has already taken effect,the dosage can be reduced or the medication is stopped immediately.The total dosage of medicines can be flexibly controlled by adjusting the interval of taking medicines and each dose to ensure safety.
