Research progress in the pathogenesis and treatment of postherpetic neuralgia of traditional Chinese medicine
Postherpetic neuralgia is the most serious sequelae after the healing of herpes zoster skin lesions,whose pain or abnormal skin sensations seriously affect the daily activities,physical and mental health of patients.Antiviral drugs,painkillers,anesthetics,and some blocking surgeries in clinical practice cannot fundamentally cure the disease,and can also give rise to many side effects.In recent years,traditional Chinese medicine has shown significant therapeutic effects in the treatment of postherpetic neuralgia and can prevent its recurrence.However,so far,there have been relatively fewer summaries about the pathogenesis and syndrome types of postherpetic neuralgia of traditional Chinese medicine.Therefore,this article systematically collects its relevant etiologies and pathogeneses,and expounds its theoretical foundations and corresponding treatment methods.It is anticipated that this research may facilitate doctors to grasp the syndrome types of postherpetic neuralgia,to treat it accurately,to reduce the pain index of patients,to improve the recovery rate of patients,and to lay a certain theoretical basis and provide a new direction for its future research.
