This paper means to summarize Professor Zheng Shaozhou's clinical experience in treating primary trigeminal neuralgia with the theory of blood stasis and toxin.He maintains that blood stasis,toxin and heat accumulation are the key pathogeneses of the disease,while the invasion of wind pathogen into the head and face acts as its inducement,and the deficiency of vital qi,the malnutrition of the five zang-viscera are its root causes.As for its treatment,Professor Zheng Shaozhou strictly abides by its etiology and pathogenesis,establishes the treatment methods of detoxification and promoting blood circulation,dispelling wind and relieving pain.At the same time,he underlines strengthening and consolidating body resistance,and strengthens emotional regulation.He adheres to the concept of"one prescription for treating one specific disease",formulating the Jiedu Huoxue Zhitong prescription as the core prescription and modifying it flexibly according to specific syndromes.He is especially good at using a large dosage of kudzuvine root to detoxify and dredge meridians,and additionally applies drugs for tonifying the kidney and benefiting qi to achieve the purpose of dispelling pathogens without harming the body.
