Clinical observation on the effect of Xiaoke'an Decoction combined with"one principle and eight methods"in the treatment of diabetes by Professor Nan Zheng
Objective To observe the clinical efficacy of Xiaoke'an Decoction combined with the therapy of"one principle and eight methods"in the treatment of diabetes by Professor Nan Zheng. Methods A total of 2219 diabetes patients admitted to the Professor Nan Zheng's Studio at the Affiliated Hospital of Changchun University of Chinese Medicine from January 2011 to June 2023 were selected as the study subjects.According to the principle of random control, they were divided into a control group and a study group, with 889 cases in the control group and 1330 cases in the study group. The control group was given modified Xiaoke'an Decoction as its basic treatment, while the study group was managed comprehensively by combining the therapy of"one principle and eight methods"on the basis of the control group. The changes in fasting blood glucose(FBG),2-hour postprandial blood glucose(2hPG),glycosylated hemoglobin(GHb),and TCM symptom scores were observed in the two groups before and after treatment. Results After two courses of treatment, the total effective rate of the study group was 87.07%,better than that of the control group(75.03%),with a statistically significant difference(P<0.05).The levels of FBG,2hPG,GHb,and TCM symptom scores of the two groups were lower than those before treatment, with a statistically significant difference(P<0.05).After treatment, the clinical TCM symptoms and signs improved in both groups, and the study group was significantly better than the control group, with a statistically significant difference(P<0.05).Conclusion The combination of Chinese medicine and the comprehensive management with"one principle and eight methods"can significantly reduce the levels of fasting blood glucose,2-hour postprandial blood glucose, and HbAlc,effectively strengthen the patient's self-management efficiency and delay the development of the disease, thereby improving their quality of life.
