Effects of acupuncture combined with knee bending standing training on the lower limb electromyography and walking ability of stroke patients with knee hyperextension
Objective To observe the effects of acupuncture combined with the knee bending standing training at different angles on the lower limb electromyography and walking ability of stroke patients with knee hyperextension. Methods Sixty stroke patients with knee hyperextension were randomly divided into a treatment group and a control group, with 30 cases in each group. The control group was given a routine rehabilitation treatment in the rehabilitation department, while the treatment group was given acupuncture at the three yang channels of foot on the affected side of foot combined with a standing training with one leg supporting and bending knees at 15 and 30 degrees on the basis of the routine rehabilitation treatment, both for a total of 4 weeks. The clinical efficacy of the two groups was analyzed after 4 weeks of treatment, and the mean root mean square(RMS)values of lower limb muscle surface electromyography, the scores of timed-up-and-go test(TUGT)and Wisconsin Gait Scale(WGS),the knee hyperextension times, and the walking function were compared between the two groups before and after 4 weeks of treatment. Results After 4 weeks of treatment, the total effective rate of the treatment group was higher than that of the control group(P<0.05).After 4 weeks of treatment, the surface electromyography RMS values on the affected side of the anterior tibialis muscle were higher in both groups than those before treatment, and the surface electromyography RMS values of the affected sides of quadriceps femoris, hamstring, anterior tibialis and triceps crus in the treatment group were all higher than those in the control group(P<0.05).The time in the TUGT was shorter in the two groups than before treatment, and the treatment group was shorter than the control group, and the scores of WGS and times of knee hyperextension were decreased in the two groups than before treatment, and the treatment group was lower than the control group(P<0.05).Compared with before treatment, the stride rate, speed and stride length were all increased in both groups, and the treatment group was higher than the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion Acupuncture combined with knee bending standing training at different angles on the affected side can improve the function of lower limb muscles and the walking ability in stroke patients with knee hyperextension, achieving a better therapeutic effect.
