Observation on the therapeutic effect of point injection combined with small needle knife in the treatment of piriformis syndrome
Objective To explore the efficacy and safety of point injection combined with small needle knife in the treatment of piriformis syndrome. Methods A total of 122 patients with piriformis syndrome admitted to Rugao People's Hospital from October 2021 to January 2023 were randomly divided into a study group and a control group, with 61cases in each group. The control group was treated with acupoint injection, while the study group was treated with acupoint injection combined with small needle knife. After 3 weeks of treatment, the pain degree, hip joint range of activity, straight leg lift test, piriformis muscle tension test,interleukin-6(IL-6),motor conduction velocity and latency of the common peroneal nerve of the affected limb were compared between the two groups, and their adverse reaction events were recorded. Results After two weeks and three weeks of treatment, the pain scores were both lower in the two groups than those before treatment, and the scores in the study group were both lower than those in the control group(P<0.05).After three weeks of treatment, the pain scores were lower in both groups than those after two weeks of treatment(P<0.05).After three weeks of treatment, the positive rates of straight leg elevation test and piriformis muscle tension test were lower in the study group than those in the control group(P<0.05).After two weeks and three weeks of treatment, the hip joint activity scores were higher in both groups than before treatment, and the study group was higher than the control group(P<0.05).After three weeks of treatment, the hip joint activity scores and straight leg elevation test degree were higher in both groups than those after two weeks of treatment(P<0.05).After three weeks of treatment, the serum IL-6 level was decreased in both groups, and the study group was lower than the control group(P<0.05).After three weeks of treatment, the motor conduction velocity was both increased in the two groups, and the study group was higher than the control group(P<0.05).After three weeks of treatment, the incubation period was shortened in both groups, and the study group was shorter than the control group(P<0.05).There were no adverse reactions in both groups during treatment. Conclusion The treatment of piriformis syndrome by point injection combined with small needle knife is helpful to reduce the hip pain response of patients, with a good safety.
