The theory of ashi point is a classical theory of Chinese medicine with the point as its core, whose application is highly valued in clinical practice yet whose theoretical connotations are often ignored.Through a review of related ancient literature and modern theories, this paper aims to summarize the connotations of the theory, which features a method of acupuncture point localization and the principle of point selection in acupuncture treatment.Comparing this theory with the theory of myofascial trigger points, the theory of Fu's subcutaneous needling, and the theory of acupotomology,it is found that these theories are essentially the same, and they can be considered as an inheritance and development of the ashi point theory. This paper maintains that the ashi point constitutes the core of the theory,it is dynamic to select the point and administer treatment at the point, and administering treatment at this point may prevent diseases.
