Syndrome differentiation and treatment of melisma from the perspective of"wind pathogens"
Traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)views melasma as a result of yin and yang disharmony in the body, dysfunction of the zang fu viscera, and stagnated circulation of qi and blood. In its occurrence and development, both external wind and internal wind can intermingle with other pathological factors to cause the condition, while different causes can result in variations in the facial pigmentation. From the perspective of"wind pathogens"and based on syndrome differentiation, treating melasma involves formulating prescriptions that focus on"dispelling wind and regulating qi",guiding the channels with"wind"medicines, penetrating skins and muscles, and regulate the qi movement in the zang fu viscera,to achieve a significant clinical effect.
