This paper introduces Professor Fu Wenbin's experience in treating intractable hiccup with an integrated acupuncture therapy. He believes that its basic pathogenesis lies in the adverse rising of stomach qi,and the key to its onset is the dysfunction of spleen in transportation, with a poor qi movement as the primary factor. The clinical treatment of intractable hiccup should be based on the principle of regulating qi and invigorating the spleen. In his clinical practice,Professor Fu Wenbin emphasizes the combination of the disease and its symptoms, investigating its root cause so as to rule out the related causes, and puts forward that qi inversion and emotion are influenced by each other according to the relationship between qi and spirit and the theory of spleen ascending and stomach descending and that qi must first be regulated before treating hiccup. The key to regulating qi lies in regulating spirit, which focuses on regulating the heart and gallbladder, while spleen deficiency runs throughout its pathogenesis. Therefore, its clinical treatment focuses on the treatment of the heart, gallbladder and spleen, emphasizing the important role of the spirit, and treating both the body and the spirit.Professor Fu Wenbin also summarizes and proposes the integrated acupuncture treatment mode of"first acupuncture, then moxibustion and third consolidation",and comprehensively uses acupuncture manipulations such as filiform needle acupuncture, moxibustion, needle picking therapy and intradermal needle to obtain good results. The paper summarizes Professor Fu Wenbin's experience in treating intractable hiccup so as to provide a reference for clinical acupuncturists in this respect.
