Academician Tong Xiaolin's treatment of chronic heart failure:A case study
Academician Tong Xiaolin believes that chronic heart failure is mainly caused by insufficient qi,blood stasis, and water retention, which may lead to a lack of power in the heart. His view on the pathogenesis of the disease is consistent with the treatment principle of strengthening the heart, promoting diuresis, and vasodilation in the treatment of chronic heart failure in western medicine. This article introduces a medical case of refractory heart failure treated by academician Tong Xiaolin based on the theory of state-target differentiation,in which the patient is mainly manifested as a deficiency state, with blood stasis and water retention as targets.Tong Xiaolin regulates the state and the targets with the combination of Yanming Decoction and Zhenwu Decoction simultaneously, achieving a good clinical efficacy. In this case,Academician Tong Xiaolin integrates traditional Chinese medicine clinical diagnosis and treatment ideas with critical cases in modern medicine, regulating states and targets at the same time, treating both manifestations and the root cause of the disease, providing a new diagnosis and treatment approach for the clinical treatment of chronic heart failure.
