Overview and prospect of research on scarlet fever in traditional Chinese and western medicine in the last decade
Scarlet fever is a common acute respiratory infectious disease in children, belonging to Class B infectious diseases in China. In recent years, the incidence rate of the disease fluctuated and increased in China. In 2022,WHO reported that scarlet fever broke out in many countries and caused death. At present, there is no vaccine against it,so its prevention and control situation is rather grim. This article analyzes the Chinese and western medical literature related to scarlet fever that has been publicly published in the past decade both at home and abroad, finding that its incidence is related to Group A hemolytic streptococcus and its genotype, streptococcus mitis infection, climate, and the five evolutive phases and six climatic factors.Besides, children are the main affected group, and the incidence of the disease varies in time and region.Traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)can achieve a good therapeutic effect in the treatment of scarlet fever through both oral and externally applied herbs. Therefore,an in-depth exploration into the mechanisms and clinical research of traditional Chinese medicine in the treatment of scarlet fever has a guiding significance for its further research.
