Discussion on the relationship between hidden pathogens and myasthenia gravis
The theory of hidden pathogens originates from the Huangdi Neijing, and belongs to the category of etiology of traditional Chinese medicine. After being carried forward by many doctors in later generations,it has been widely used in guiding the clinical practice of traditional Chinese medicine. The theory of"hidden pathogenic factors causing diseases"proposed by Professor Ren Jixue,a master of traditional Chinese medicine, has achieved significant effects in the treatment of various diseases.Myasthenia gravis,an intractable case with a prolonged course and recurrent attacks,is by nature caused by those hidden, lingering pathogens, for which spleen and kidney deficiency acts as the root cause, affecting the disharmony in three aspects:between tendons and meridians, among qi,blood, and fluids, and between nutrient qi and defensive qi.In light of that, this article explores the etiology and pathogenesis of myasthenia gravis from the perspective of"hidden pathogenic factors causing diseases"in order to provide a new theoretical guidance for the prevention and treatment of the disease in traditional Chinese medicine.
