Analysis of the effects of Weijin Xiangjiao acupuncture technique at different times on negative emotions and sleep quality in patients with acute ischemic stroke
Objective To explore the effects of the Weijin Xiangjiao acupuncture technique applied at different times on negative emotions and sleep quality in patients with acute ischemic stroke. Methods A total of 94 patients with acute ischemic stroke treated in our hospital from June 2021 to June 2023 were selected as the research subjects. They were divided into an observation group and a control group, each consisting of 47 patients, based on the time of acupuncture intervention. The observation group received the acupuncture treatment within 10 days after onset, while the control group received the same treatment from 10 to 30 days after onset. All the patients were treated for 4 weeks. The traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)syndrome scores(including facial asymmetry, dizziness, hemiplegia, and limb numbness),National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale(NIHSS)scores, and hemorheological parameters(plasma viscosity, high shear whole blood viscosity)were compared before and after treatment. The patients'motor functions and balance abilities were assessed using the simplified Fugl-Meyer Assessment(FMA)and Berg Balance Scale(BBS),respectively.Their swallowing ability was evaluated using the Water Swallowing Test(WST)and Standardized Swallowing Assessment(SSA)before and after treatment. The patients'negative emotions and sleep quality were assessed using the Self-Rating Anxiety Scale(SAS),Self-Rating Depression Scale(SDS),and Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index(PSQI)before and after treatment. Results After treatment, the observation group showed lower TCM syndrome scores,NIHSS scores, and hemodynamic indices compared to the control group.Furthermore, the observation group had higher Fugl-Meyer scores,BBS scores, and swallowing ability,as well as lower SAS scores,SDS scores, and PSQI scores, all indicating a statistically significant difference(P<0.05 for all). Conclusion An early intervention with the Weijin Xiangjiao acupuncture technique can help improve negative emotions and sleep quality in patients with ischemic stroke.
