Application of the theory of yangming viscera governing keeping holes closed inHuangdi Neijing in the treatment of flaccidity syndrome
Patients with flaccidity syndrome usually feature rigid limb muscles, impotent or weak hands and feet. The syndrome,as a difficult and complicated disease in clinic,is usually characterized by a complex etiology and pathogenesis,as there are many causes for a failure in nourishing muscles in patients with it.In modern medicine, flaccidity syndrome is more commonly found in myasthenia gravis, multiple sclerosis, cerebrovascular diseases and so on.Based on the theory of yangming viscera governing keeping holes closed in the Huangdi Neijing, this paper discusses its differentiation and treatment, exploring its function of keeping holes closed, that is,to converge yang qi and allow it to accumulate in the body.Based on the function of yangming zang-fu viscera of keeping holes closed, reviewing relevant ancient literature and famous medical cases in the past dynasties, this paper proposes to differentiate and treat this disease in accordance with its development stages:retaining the qi of yangming viscera and eliminating the basis of flaccidity syndrome, regulating the viscera of yangming and transforming the sources of essence and blood, reinforcing the foundation of viscera of yangming and restoring the primordial qi.The treatment of flaccidity syndrome in this manner can restore the function of yangming viscera,so that yangming viscera can stay closed, dampness cannot be produced and flaccidity syndrome will not occur, providing an inspiration for its clinical treatment.
