Analysis on the application of Chinese peony by Zhang Zhongjing based on the theory of classical prescriptions
There are 55 prescriptions containing it in Shanghan Lun and Jingui Yaolue.This article discusses the medication rules of Chinese peony mainly from four aspects:the simplest prescription of Chinese peony,the modified prescriptions of Chinese peony,the prescription containing the maximum dosage of Chinese peony,and a comprehensive analysis of similar prescriptions containing the medicine.It concludes that Chinese peony mainly acts to regulate the Yangming meridian,having the functions of nourishing blood and promoting blood circulation,harmonizing yingfen and weifen,clearing heat,relieving spasm,relieving pain,stopping diarrhea,facilitating diuresis,and promoting defecation,etc.Combined with different medicines,Chinese peony has different effects.Therefore,it is imperative to clarify its effects and grasp the significances in its common combination with other herbs,so that to guarantee a remarkable efficacy in clinical practice.
