Guideline for diagnosis and treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus with integrated Chinese and western medicine
Type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM)is a global public health issue,with the patient population in China exceeding 100 million.This guideline,developed through preliminary research,expert interviews,consensus meetings,and supported by evidence-based medical evidence,provides recommendations for the integrated diagnosis and treatment of T2DM using both traditional Chinese medicine and western medicine.The main contents of the guideline include diagnostic criteria for T2DM,screening for high-risk groups,classification of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)syndromes,and principles and methods of treatment.The treatment plans in it cover health education and management,nutrition and medicinal meals,exercise and qigong,psychological adjustment and emotional therapies,as well as the integration of TCM treatment based on syndrome differentiation,patent Chinese medicines,and TCM external therapies with western medicine interventions.The guideline emphasizes pursuing patient-centered care and individualized treatment,aiming to improve blood glucose control,reduce complications,and enhance the quality of life.This guideline is applicable to clinical physicians and related nursing staff in traditional Chinese medicine and integrated medical institutions,and can also be referred to by clinical physicians of western medicine and health management professionals.The levels of evidence and the strength of recommendations are evaluated using the GRADE method,ensuring the scientific,practical,and effective nature of the guideline,and providing evidence-based medical support for the clinical practice of integrated traditional Chinese and western medicine.
