A case report of Academician Tong Xiaolin treating an elderly patient with acute critical heart failure induced by pulmonary infection
Heart failure induced by pulmonary infection is a common critical illness in elderly patients,featuring a difficulty in its diagnosis due to unclear symptoms in the early stage,and thus a high mortality rate.From the perspective of differentiating the pathogenesis,the states and the targets of the disease,Academician Tong Xiaolin treats it by regulating the heart and lung through nourishing both qi and blood,harmonizing yin and yang through both eliminating pathogens and reinforcing the body,and clearing collaterals through the reasonable application of insect drugs.On the basis of the conventional treatment of modern medicine,he uses the modified Zilong Xuanbai Chengqi decoction to treat the patient in this case,achieving a significant curative effect in reversing the patient's heart failure symptoms and improving the lung infection and kidney function.
