Exploration of the three-needling method in the intervention in functional constipation
When analyzing the origin and progression of the three-needling method by investigating both the ancient and modern medical theories,it can be seen that the therapy is confined by the shallow needling technique of"acupuncture only applied to the same meridian and only to the same acupoint in three layers",which limits its application and makes it difficult to promote its use. This study aims to break away from the preconceived idea,to retain the integrity of the three-needling technique,to absorb its theoretical principle while to ignore its unreasonable operational stipulations, coming up with its new interpretation of"multiple needles applied on multiple meridians and different acupoints in three layers at the same time".What's more,in his clinical practice,Professor Gong Yi observes that acupuncture is more effective than oral administration of traditional Chinese medicine in the treatment of constipation.Thereby,it is particularly important to explore the diagnosis and treatment of constipation using the three-needling method given its wide indications and profound implications.Based on the relationship between the three-needling method and constipation, this paper highlights exploring its mechanisms in the treatment of constipation, expounding on the two concepts of"one needling targeting consciousness, one needling targeting pathogenesis, and one needling targeting specific affected location"and"one needling targeting secondary symptoms, one needling targeting primary symptom, and one needling targeting transmission".In this way,the paper is expected to further explore the method and its clinical application in the treatment of constipation.
