Through investigating ancient books,combing the modern research results of traditional Chinese medicine,combined with the understandings and application experience of well-known experts and scholars in the fields of clinical traditional Chinese medicine and Chinese materia medica,it is concluded that the medicine of bat's droppings mainly has the following characteristics:Its effects mainly involve clearing heat and improving eyesight,dispersing blood and eliminating food stagnation.Its symptom target is blindness or blurred vision.The pharmacological mechanisms of bat's droppings need to be further explored as its active ingredients are still unknown.Dispersing blood and eliminating food stagnation,bat's droppings should be used with caution in pregnant women.Its clinical dosage is 3-15 g.When taken orally,bat's droppings should be used in accordance with syndrome differentiation,and it is advisable to explore and construct the dose-effect relationship between its dosage and its symptom targets or biochemical indicator targets.
