Clinical observation on the treatment of cervical vertigo with Lingnan fire needle
Objective To examine the therapeutic effect of Lingnan fire needle therapy and electroacupuncture therapy in the treatment of patients with cervical vertigo. Methods A total of 72 patients with cervical vertigo were enrolled, and they were randomly divided into two groups, with 3 cases dropping out in the control group and 2 cases dropping out in the treatment group.Patients in the treatment group were treated with Lingnan fire needle therapy while those in the control group received electroacupuncture therapy. The scores of the Evaluation Scale for Cervical Vertigo(ESCV),Dizziness Handicap Inventory(DHI),the traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)symptoms and clinical efficacy evaluation were documented before and after 2 weeks of treatment.A follow-up was conducted after 4 weeks of treatment, and the number of recurrent cases was recorded. Results After 2 weeks of treatment, the total scores of the two groups in the ESCV scale were significantly increased, with a statistically significant difference(P<0.05),and the scores of the treatment group were higher than those of the control group, with a statistically significant difference(P<0.05).The scores of the two groups in the DHI scale and TCM symptoms were significantly decreased, with a statistically significant difference(P<0.05),and the scores of the treatment group were lower than those of the control group, with a statistically significant difference(P<0.05).The clinical efficacy evaluation showed that the effective rate of the treatment group(85.29%)was significantly higher than that of the control group(63.64%)(P<0.05).After 4 weeks of treatment, the follow-up showed that the recurrence rate of the treatment group(11.76%)was lower than that of the control group(36.36%),with a statistically significant difference(P<0.05).Conclusion Lingnan fire needle and electroacupuncture therapy have positive effects in improving the comprehensive symptoms, severity of the disease, rehabilitation degree, and TCM clinical manifestations in the treatment of patients with cervical vertigo, and Lingnan fire needle is superior to electroacupuncture therapy, with certain advantages in treating cervical vertigo and maintaining long-term efficacy.
