In the process of the revival of modern Mohism,Yu Yue played an exemplary role in connecting the past with the future.In the first place,following the trend of textual research during the Qianjia period,Yu Yue conducted detailed proofread-ing of the text of Mozi,promoting a sustainable development of the exegesis of Mozi.In the second place,under the stimulation of the ideology of"govern the country and serve the society"and the belief that"Western learning comes from Mohism",the value of Mohism was reevaluated,and it was advocated to be included in the category of governing the country and ensuring national se-curity,highlighting the concept of universal application.An in-depth interpretation of these statements and a profound analysis of the academic achievements help provide an insight into the evolution of Mohism in the late Qing Dynasty and modern times.They can also help to understand how the intellectual class then,in the context of the worsening social crises,reexamined the classical knowledge in order to alleviate or even eliminate social crises and the impact and tension brought by Western new knowledge,and thus reconstructed a world of knowledge and belief.
