In the era of intelligent media,people's perception of the"space"they are in is influenced by various aspects of media technology,and the formation of locality based on this naturally presents new characteristics.The specific role of media technology in the generation of"places"can reflect the logical embedding of current technology into daily life,as well as the deep interaction between technology and culture.The paper combines the theory of spatial production with the theory of"place",and uses quantitative analysis,in-depth interviews,and participatory observation methods to examine a geographical WeChat group established based on a sense of local belonging and cultural identity.The study finds that citizens'media practice of this online community presents following characteristics.Firstly,through the writing and dissemination of personal"space"experi-ence,virtual space and physical space are connected.By creating new"spatial"experiences to connect current and historical spaces,the role of strengthening the perception of"space"is achieved.Secondly,in major public issues,the role of informa-tion dissemination centers and collective decision-making centers,as well as the construction of action consortia,highlights local value,strengthens the cohesion of geopolitical WeChat groups,generates"local",goes beyond the functions of traditional off-line communities,reshapes the relationship between people and the place,and connects people and the place.
