Study of Fire Behaviour of Different External Wall Insulation Materials Under Glass Fibre Mesh Covering
To investigate the effect of glass fibre mesh on the combustion performance of thermo-setting and thermoplastic exterior wall insulation materials,a cone calorimeter was used to carry out combustion experimental studies and to analyze the parameters produced by combustion. The results show that the glass fibre mesh increases the ignition time, heat release rate, smoke generation rate and other relevant parameters of the insulation panels. Some of the fire behaviours of thermoset materials were more significantly affected by the glass fibre mesh, but less so in terms of ignitability and fire propagation properties.Among the thermoplastic materials, the glass fibre mesh has a greater influence on the ignitability, heat release, fire propagation properties of XPS and smoke generation of EPS.The glass fibre mesh reduces the fire growth index of PUF and EPS by a small amount and has the effect of inhibiting flame spread.
