Ferric oxide(Fe3O4)nanoparticles are a type of magnetic nanomaterial with diverse ap-plications and properties, garnering significant attention in catalysis, drug delivery, biomedicine, and magnetic recording. In this study,we employed the hydrothermal method to synthesize these nanoparti-cles using ferrous chloride as the reactant. We systematically investigated the influence of key factors such as ammonia ratio, reactant concentration, reaction temperature, and time on the product under ammonia presence. The particle size distribution of the reaction products was compared to screen for op-timal hydrothermal preparation conditions. We described the optimum synthesis of magnetic Fe3O4 nan-oparticles under various preparation conditions and explored the ideal molecular weight for PEG-modi-fied ferric oxide.
